Longevity by Design

Every platform we build is shaped around how a business actually works, not around how software usually works. That's the whole point of bespoke. But the real test isn't the day it launches. It's whether it's still doing the job years later, long after the team that built it has moved on to other things.

In 2019, we delivered a bespoke platform for CRE Marine, a specialist in underwater connectivity working in one of the world's most demanding environments: the deep ocean. The brief was significant. They needed a system to manage the full lifecycle of a work order, guiding assembly staff step by step from receipt of the initial order through to dispatch, with quality checks built into every stage and a clear process for handling non-conformance reports (NCRs) when they arose. The goal was a structured, transparent workflow that could keep pace with rapid growth without sacrificing control or consistency.

The platform did exactly that. It became central to CRE Marine's operation during a period of rapid scaling. Since then, the business has been acquired by Trexon, and more recently become part of Amphenol, one of the largest connector and sensor manufacturers in the world.

Still earning its place

What we're most proud of is what's happened since delivery.

Seven years on, the platform continues to add real value to the organisation with remarkably little intervention. Our ongoing role is light-touch by design: the occasional feature request, and the kind of support that keeps a seven-year-old platform still worth having. Not because the platform needs constant attention, but because it was built properly the first time.

Longevity like this comes down to unglamorous things: engineers who think past launch day, processes that catch problems before they reach production, and genuine care about whether the platform still works years later. CRE Marine's platform is proof that it adds up. Built properly the first time, it hasn't needed much from us since. Seven years of quiet, reliable operation is the result.
